After registering and sending out the test sample, in December, the HbA1C dried bloodspot results arrived quickly! My only problem was the three blood spots. I test daily with my fingers and could not get the drop to form or fall properly. The results were excellent and I will be doing it again in three months.

I ordered both the vitamin D and omega-3 tests. My results arrived much quicker than I expected. It was very easy to understand and read the information about my test results. I am eager to take more of my supplements and to see the results in 3-4 months.

It was slow. It took me 3 weeks to get the result. There was also a link to an Omega 3 calculator. Unfortunately, it did not work. It was a late result, and I have no advice.

Although I enjoy the process of having my blood tested for the omega index, this is not something that my doctor would allow me to do. It is easy to do it at home and send it via mail.
    Hence, why not 5 stars?
The result was presented in a color chart with an arrow. I would have preferred text to accompany my result and explain the meaning in words. Now, I had to decipher the meaning of the color and where the arrow was pointed. I received many emails promoting omega 3 and explaining its importance, so I expected more personal emails.
The wait time took almost a week longer that expected.

A test for Omega 3 levels is a great way to determine if you are taking enough fish oil. The test was easy and took just over a week to complete. The lancet was too strong to use for testing blood sugar. It also caused excessive bleeding and left me with a bruise and discomfort for several days. Although I will retest in 6 months, I won`t be using the provided lancet next time.

Excellent information in an easily understood report. The results arrived faster than I expected and the sample was sent quickly. Although the item that was used to draw blood from my finger did not hurt, it did bruise my finger. It could have been my fault. This test provides guidelines on how to reach your optimal omega 3 levels and links to calculate how much to add to one`s diet.

It was an excellent breakdown of the different omega-3 biomarkers. But I hoped that the suggestions regarding supplementation would be more specific to my case. Instead of being directed to a website where I must figure it all out, Although I am not familiar with my eating habits, I expected you to give me more specific guidelines.

I ordered two test kits in my initial order. One of the pairs that I received was not what I ordered or paid for. After I provided a photo and contacted support, they allowed me to keep the extra kits, and sent me the missing ones immediately. I submitted samples with all three of the kits and paid for the accidently sent more detailed report.

I had not heard of the Omega 3 Index despite being in the medical field for many years. It was a podcast that first introduced me to it. I did some research and found out more. OmegaQuant was the result of my research. The testing process is easy and inexpensive. This is something I consider a major factor in my quest to improve my overall health. Anyone reading this should do their own research to determine what is best for them.

It`s so easy, reliable, and convenient! My results were almost identical to the lab drawing my skeptical MD ordered just a few weeks later.
Omegaquant is used twice a year by me to monitor my family`s vitamin-D levels. I find it easier and more child-friendly than trying to coordinate lab draws and MD orders. My youngest children are able to be tested using a lancet, rather than a venipuncture. This allows them to have a more relaxed and cooperative experience.

OmegaQuant is an independent, CLIA-certified lab that offers nutritional & health status testing to researchers, clinicians and the public. We test:

    • Omega-3 Index
    • Vitamin D
    • Prenatal DHA
    • Vitamin B12
    • HbA1c
    • Mother’s Milk DHA

Our goal is to offer the highest quality analytical services to researchers and to provide simple tests of nutritional status to consumers, with the ultimate purpose of advancing the science and use of nutrients to improve health.

    Our Story

Dr. Bill Harris, a leading expert in omega-3 fatty acids, founded OmegaQuant in 2009. He obtained his Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from the University of Minnesota and did post-doctoral fellowships in Clinical Nutrition and Lipid Metabolism with Dr. Bill Connor at the Oregon Health Sciences University.

His interest in omega-3 fatty acids began with his postdoctoral work when he published his first study on the effects of salmon oil on serum lipids in humans (1980). Since that time he has been the recipient of five NIH grants for studies on the effects of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) on human health.

He has more than 350 publications relating to fatty acids, including omega-3s, in medical literature and was an author on two American Heart Association scientific statements on fatty acids: “Fish Consumption, Fish Oil, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Cardiovascular Disease” (2002), and “Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Risk for Cardiovascular Disease” (2009) both published in the journal Circulation.

Dr. Harris co-invented the Omega-3 Index in 2004 and made it commercially available to the research community and the public in 2009. To date, the Omega-3 Index has been used as the standard measure of omega-3 status in more than 200 clinical studies.

Dr. Harris is also a Professor in the Department of Medicine in the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota.

Dr. Harris moved on as OmegaQuant’s President in late 2020 to establish the Fatty Acid Research Institute (FARI), where he will go back to his roots of conducting research on fatty acids and health.

Since 2020, OmegaQuant has branched out beyond fatty acid testing to include vitamin D, B12, and HbA1c testing. We expect to roll out more of these simple, at-home diagnostic tests in the near future and we’ll keep you posted when we do! Until then, explore how the power of testing can help personalize your approach to living your healthiest life.
